TOM asked:

I had once installed ffdshow codec pack on my laptop as i thought it might be good. But now I don’t need it and when i uninstall it and play videos with windows media player, it says”Windows Media Player can’t play file.Check whether a codec is available online.” or something of that sort. But before I had installed ffdshow on my laptop all media files worked well. Please help.

that happened to me a while ago and to fix it i downloaded Zoom Player 600 MAX. it’s free to use no trials or registration. Once you download and install open Zoom Player and right click the screen area (where the video plays) click “options\setup”…the click the little plus sign next to “System” …then click “missing formats”…then lastly press the button called “Launch Install Center”…something should pop up then click “installed selected”.

That should give you all the major codecs that you need.
PS:I just installed Zoom Player and ran install center today and everything went fine.

    Here’s the link
You want the first one Zoom Player Home Max!
